A quote is what you expect to pay for one of a shortage. It is not a vendor price and it does not update itself. Leave the field blank when you do not know. Blank stays unknown. Zero means you want that line to add nothing, and it is included. A value that is not a number from 0 to 1,000,000,000, with at most two decimal places, is rejected.
The known subtotal adds only the lines you priced, after on-hand materials have already reduced the shortage. One priced line is not a complete total. The total becomes complete only when every shortage has a quote and no crafting loop is still open. Clearing a quote removes it. It does not leave a zero behind.
- Open the cost fields before typing. The total is incomplete.
- Price one material. That line and the known subtotal change. The other blanks keep the total incomplete.
- Clear the field to drop the quote.
- Type zero only when that material should add nothing.
- Use a vendor price when you want a shop comparison. Use a quote when you want your own number. The quote stays in this browser.
One quote on the bow plan
Before any quote is typed, the total is incomplete. A quote of 2 gold on each of 10 Iron Ingot makes that line 20 gold. The known subtotal is 20 gold, and it is still not the cost of the bow while other shortages are blank.
Clearing the quote removes it. Typing 0 keeps a real zero on that line and still does not finish the total. A vendor price is a different choice from this quote, and neither the quote nor a zero is stored in a shared link or a saved plan.
